Songs of the Seraphim: Angel Time (2009) AVAILABLE NOW! U.S. Books: Audiobook: U.K. Books: Songs of the Seraphim: Angel Time (2009) Reviews Media Readers' Reactions Angel Time Trailer Listen to an audio clip from the book: FROM ANNE: Posted 11/17/08 In keeping with my commitment to do Christian fiction in a variety of forms, I am developing a new series called Songs of the Seraphim. The first of these metaphysical thrillers, Angel Time, will be coming in October 2009. The second has already been written and the third is underway. I'm hoping for a long life for the series with many adventures for its hero. I continue to work on Christ the Lord, the Kingdom of Heaven, the third book in the Christ the Lord series. First Review: "Time travel, ultraviolence and medieval madness—divine intervention rendered fantastically by Rice... With two marvelous reimaginings of the Gospels and a spiritual autobiography recently extending her range, Rice revisits the shadows of her vampire classics; now, however, with her return to Catholicism, her sinners vie for redemption... Angelically inspiring. Devilishly clever." — Kirkus Review 2009 Reviews: • Desert Sun • Joseph A. Rice, who gave us the now-classic Interview with the Vampire, has embarked on a new series about angels. These are not sentimental Victorian angels, however. Toby O’Dare, who once studied for the Roman Catholic priesthood, is an assassin who takes orders from an unseen boss he calls “The Right Man”. The RM is basically a supernatural version of Charlie in Charlie’s Angels, and our anti-hero is about to get the strangest assignment of his career — a trip to England in the 13th century, where innocent Jews are being persecuted. Redemption is the goal, immortality the prize, but you don’t need belief to be totally gripped." --The Times, October 31, 2009 "Although Rice’s latest is a departure from her recent books chronicling the life of Christ, she hasn’t returned to the vampire and witches that made her famous. Instead, Rice offers a hybrid: a thrilling redemption story that incorporates religion... Readers looking either for a convincing story of faith rediscovered or simply an exciting read will be pleased by Rice’s compelling tale, and many will hope for more books featuring her fascinating and utterly sympathetic new hero." — Kristine Huntley, Booklist "If Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett had believed in angels, either one of them might have conjured up Malchiah, the seraph who leads Toby O’Dare from the road to perdition toward the path of redemption in Anne Rice’s Songs of the Seraphim; neither, though, would have done it with the same attention to detail or ability to deal with the complexity of the human condition. What Ms. Rice did for vampires – using their blood-thirst as a metaphor for the existential quest for meaning – she now does for a hit-man called to serve a Higher Power. At once suspenseful, supernatural, noir-ish and hope-filled, ANGEL TIME will delight fans of history, mystery and mysticism – as well as anyone else who enjoys a good page-turner." — Rev Joseph MPR Cocucci I loved Angel Time, I couldn't put it down. I felt so sad for Tobey, and can't wait to read more about him! I loved all of it, it's the best book I've ever read. Only Anne Rice could have thought up and wrote such an interesting story! There are no words to describe how awesome this book is, I could read it a hundred times and still love it. — Saudia Mohamed, Brampton (GTA) Media: Anne Rice Philippines The Press Enterprise Local Riverside News The Decatur Daily Women on the Web (interview) The Arizona Republic BibliotechShow.com Skype interview Anne's 2009 interview with the 700 Club 2009 APPEARANCES SCHEDULE Monday, October 26 1pm EDT WFPL-FM Louisville, KY Public Radio Tuesday, October 27 Good Morning America, ABC See video of the appearance.
